I have spent many years writing commentaries on the Bible and wanted to try something else. I use a variety of devotional books in my own daily time with God and thought it a good idea to writing my own. It is quite a big undertaking with 365 daily episodes and much thinking and meditation.
The daily devotionals of C H Spurgeon are always in my remit. I like the way he takes a short phrase from the Scripture and expands on it. It is a helpful way of combining thought with the skills I used for the commentaries.
I have taken phrases and sometimes verses from the Scripture and expanded on them. I started at Genesis and went through each page of the text and picked out passages that I thought were useful and would be a help and encouragement to the daily reader.
The title of my book is linked to a devotional book by Robert Murray McShane called “A basket of fragments” I liked the idea of the fragments and put it together with the grace idea and got “Daily fragments of grace.” As you read each day, each page is a fragment of God’s rich grace to us in giving us His holy Word. I hope you will be able to ponder on the ideas and be blessed.
The Scripture is so rich and deep in meaning and I hope these fragments of grace will be helpful to you as you read each day through the year.
